她腹脹7年就醫無效 google查出病因

英國德比郡47歲婦人鮑威爾（Sallie Powell），沒有懷孕卻腹脹多年，看上去就像懷胎九月，求醫七年一直未能診斷出病因，多年來伴隨的關節疼痛、疲倦、失憶等病徵讓她放棄婚禮攝影師的工作，終日與止痛藥為伍，最後透過搜尋引擎Google，查出自己患什麼病。

東網報導，鮑威爾有一個孩子，但持續的腹脹卻讓她像是懷孕多年。她曾接受手術，但病情依舊。後來一名醫師告訴鮑威爾「妳血液含鈣量太高」，鮑威爾於是從Google輸入自己的病徵，幾個月後，她從網路上查出自己可能是患上罕見的副甲狀腺機能亢進（hyperparathyroidism），此病通常是甲狀腺分泌失調引起，由於副甲狀腺素過多，血液裡的鈣增加，進而引發一系列病徵。

得知病源後，鮑威爾動手術移除受影響的甲狀腺，現在已經康復。她現在加入一個網路支援團體，分享她的個人經驗，希望幫助大家提高對此罕病的警覺。
